Volunteer Opportunities
VOLUNTEER TIMES: Backpack Buddies continues to grow with both volunteers and the number of students we serve each week. Currently, we are sending out around 1,550 bags of food on the weekends to kids in need. We anticipate this number continuing to grow each year. We have had a large number of volunteers helping us each Wednesday morning and that has limited our need for evening packing nights. Our volunteer dates for April through May are posted in the link below. The sign up sheet is only for children 12 and older. You may bring younger ones, but please do not add their name to the list. And since we constantly have an overwhelming number of people wanting to volunteer, please only volunteer for one of the dates currently listed to allow more people an opportunity to volunteer.
We will open up more volunteer dates for the summer by the end of May. There will be morning packing opportunities and delivery drivers needed each week of the summer. Once the schedule is finalized we will send out an email looking for volunteers.
If you have a group of 5 or more that would like to volunteer together, please email Nicole McNutt at nmcnutt.bpb@gmail.com to see when your group can come volunteer with us. Please be patient as we have a lot of groups wanting to volunteer and we will do everything we can to find a date for your group on the calendar. If your group consists of children age 12 and under, we ask that there is one adult per 2 children for volunteer opportunities.

Host a Food Drive
We are always in need of food! Currently it has been harder for us to buy the items we need in bulk. With the help of the community, several neighborhoods have hosted food drives for us already, This has been a huge success in helping us collect the items we need most. You have greater reach into our community resources and would love for you to help us in this way. See our food list by clicking HERE to see what items we are using during this season.
