Host A Food Drive
We are always in need of food donations! Recently, it has become more difficult for us to purchase bulk items through the Atlanta Food Bank, which means we are now relying more heavily on local wholesale clubs to meet our needs. Because of this, we need the support of our community to help host food drives.
These drives have been incredibly successful in helping us collect the items we use most, and your organization can make a big impact. You have valuable connections within the community, and we would love for you to partner with us in this way. Please scroll down to view our current food needs list and see the items we are using most during this season.
We would love for businesses, schools, churches, offices, and community groups to join us by hosting a food drive. To help us stay organized, we have created a sign-up system with the items we need each month. Please consider signing up for a month that works best for your organization. Use the link below for more information and to sign up for a month to host a food drive.

Help Us Feed Hungry Children
Backpack Buddies is constantly in need of food. This school year, we will be sending out about 1,500 bags each week, and our current food list highlights in bold the items we need most.
If you’re able to shop for us, your donations are deeply appreciated. Monetary gifts also go a long way in helping us continue our mission — “because hunger doesn’t take the weekend off.”
We are so grateful for the outpouring of community support and cannot thank you enough for partnering with us.

Help Us Provide “Break Bags” for School Holidays
Each week-long school holiday, Backpack Buddies sends out about 1,200 larger bags of food to help students and their families during breaks. We rely on both monetary and food donations to cover the cost of these larger bags.
To make the biggest impact, donating at least a month prior to the school holiday is most helpful.
• Regular-size Box of Cereal (10-12 oz box — no bags or extra-large boxes from wholesale clubs)
• Box of Macaroni and Cheese
• Canned Vegetables
• Canned Tuna or Chicken (small cans)
• Chicken Noodle Soup
• Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Chicken, or Cream of Celery Soup (regular size cans)
• Pasta (16 oz box)
• Spaghetti Sauce (small plastic jars or 15 oz cans — nothing larger than 20 oz)
• Granola Bars (small boxes of 6–8 bars)
• Peanut Butter (small plastic jars only — 16 oz)
• Individual Snack Items (peanut butter crackers, cookies, chips)
Donating for the break bags is most helpful at least a month prior to the school holiday.
